It was just a harmless social event, dahling.

Hmm.. now that I’ve been tagging along with Fairuz for meetings here and there, it’s like.. fun and insightful to see how other people in the industry is working. As of late, we’ve been to and fro to Cannery, Sentosa and town to meet up with various people to plan for the next big event by Oops!.

It’s like, now I really know that networking is the key factor in this media/ events industry. For example, you’re planning a party, and you need more sponsors to come in. So you know this friend of yours working in this company and might be keen on collaborating. And you know a friend of a friend and it goes on and on. In short, you get better deals and it’s much easier to get them and stuff.

I was already visualising an awesome theme for the upcoming event (which had to be kept confidential still) BUT, the higher ups burst our bubbles and we somehow had to come to a compromise such that both parties are agreeable. Too bad that we’re living in a country tied down to conservativeness and all that shit. Don’t get me wrong. The P likes the idea of students planning such events and we have his support. Just that his main concern was that some parents might still be too conservative. Even the Lollipop! party held just recently saw beloved traditional parents calling up and e-mailing, addressing concerns on what message the institution is trying to convey by planning a party in a popular nightspot. Note that no alcohol was served that night.

Ouh come on uncle, face it. We’re not living in the 1930s anymore. We just wana bring across the message that hey, SP students do study, produce good grades and still be the first choice polytechnic and we do know how to have fun too. And if that’s considered “harmful” to you, the more your child will try going against you.

I was just waiting for a complaint letter to be published in the papers about that day. Haha.
